Quartz Bore Cu-Zn-Pb Project

Quartz Bore Cu-Zn-Pb Project

The Quartz Bore Cu-Zn-Pb Project is located within the West Pilbara province, 80 kilometres east of Roebourne in Western Australia. The Project comprises a single granted exploration license and covers an area of approximately 15km2 and includes identified copper, zinc and lead occurrences.

Work completed on the Quartz Bore Project has been primarily directed toward the discovery of new Volcanogenic Massive Sulphides and previous work has defined a prospective strike length of approximately four kilometres. Exploration to date has generated the Balla Balla, West Balla and East Balla base metal prospects located within a sequence of dacitic lava and volcanoclastic sediments and shales.

Balla Balla is the most advanced prospect with drilling intersecting widespread zones of zinc-lead-copper mineralisation along a 600m strike length and down dip to a depth of 250m below surface. The lens is open in several directions.

Notable intercepts at Balla Balla include:

  • 15m @ 5.11% Zn, 0.12% Cu and 1.89% Pb
    • Including 5m @ 12.56% Zn
  • 5m @ 7.2% Zn, 1.14% Cu and 2.34% Pb
    • Including 2m @ 13.71% Zn
  • 3m @ 15.5% Zn, 0.76% Cu and 4.90% Pb
  • 10m @ 4.45% Zn, 0.22% Cu and 2.54% Pb
    • Including 2m @ 9.74% Zn

The East Balla Prospect was identified by rock chip sampling, returning 18.35% Cu, 1.02% Pb and 0.75% Zn from an outcrop of massive chalcocite-malachite in a small gossan. Drilling has returned 0.8m @ 17.15% Cu and 2.30% Zn.

The West Balla Prospect has a strike length of 800m and significant drilling intercepts include:

  • 7m @ 9.72% Zn, 0.05% Cu and 2.82% Pb
  • 7m @ 9.72% Zn, 0.05% Cu and 2.82% Pb

VR8 intends to explore the Project with the aim of evaluating the advanced Balla Balla Prospect and the surrounding prospects to determine the potential for mining operations and identifying additional economic mineralisation.

The potential for conglomerate-hosted gold mineralisation will also be investigated given the project is adjacent to Venturex’s Loudens Patch Prospect and proximate to recent “nugget patch” discoveries by De Grey Mining and DGO Gold.
